Rollups fixed throughput and brought scale, but fractured the money-lego experience that made DeFi powerful.
@ComposeNetwork, built by @ssv_network, aims to restore the magic to Ethereum rollups → bringing back instant and atomic transactions

1. Why synchronous and atomicity matter
→ Synchronous means every step happens together, in the same block
→ Atomic means all or nothing; if one part of the transaction fails, everything reverts
The combination of both synchronicity and atomic transactions is what allowed flash loans, cross-pool swaps, and unified liquidity to exist on L1.
Without it, DeFi becomes fragmented with the overreliance on bridges or other bottlenecks which causes delays and half-finished transactions.

2. What Compose does
Compose acts as a ZK-powered coordination layer connecting all rollups into one synchronous system.
How it works:
• Uses a Two-Phase Commit (2PC) system to coordinate transactions across rollups whereby all rollups agree before anything executes
• A Shared Data Bus (SDB) lets rollups publish intents and proofs to L1 in the same block
• A Shared Publisher (SP), run by validators, finalizes the atomic bundle on L1
• ZK proofs guarantee the state transition is valid across all rollups
→ Executes cross-rollup transactions instantly and atomically
→ Keeps each rollup’s sequencer independent — no shared sequencer needed
→ Validators handle coordination → ensuring neutrality and routing value back to Ethereum
The end goal is to make it feel like true mainnet again but with the scalability and throughput of different rollups and L2s.

3. Why it matters
Synchronous and atomic execution unlocks efficiency that async systems can’t match
When liquidity, apps, and users can move instantly across rollups:
• Users get seamless swaps and faster L1↔L2 withdrawals
• Developers deploy once and reach every rollup
• Validators earn interop yield, strengthening $ETH as the trust layer

4. Personal view
Rollups scaled Ethereum’s infrastructure, but fractured the money-lego experience that once defined it. Compose is the glue that could reconnect this fracture → an essential layer for restoring atomic, synchronous DeFi across rollups
The biggest challenge for the team isn’t its technical abilities but how to make it experiential for all users → Infra plays are everywhere, but few manage to become invisible
For an infra play like Compose to succeed, it has to feel seamless similar to price feed oracles today, powering the ecosystem quietly in the background without users needing to know it exists
